I forgot how good my tomatoes taste fresh off the vine..

I like to slice them and put them on soft toast with mozzarella cheese, mayo and some vinegar.

Oh yummmy yummmy!

You think THAT'S weird? How about the same sandwich, only with peanut butter (I like crunchy style)? No cheese or vinegar, of course (the mayo would probably work).
Trust me ~ this is great, but ONLY with vine-fresh maters!

I love grilled tomato sandwiches. Tomato, cheese, a little lettuce, onion, a lot of pepper and grill them just like a grilled cheese sandwich using mayo instead of butter on the bread.

plain tomato with miracle whip on wheat takes me right back to my grandma's kitchen, but my dh's mom used to put cheese, bologna, and fresh tomato on white and put it open faced in the broiler for a couple of minutes until the cheese was all melty. soooooooooo good!

I recently ate a BLT that was so big, I couldn't even get my big mouth around it to take a bite. This was at an out-of-the-way place in Indy. I was floored at the price, less than 2 bucks for this huge sandwich! It was good, though, yum! Yes, peanut butter and tomato...Sounds like my dad-in-law. He eats some strange things together too. Like cottage cheese and French Dressing. Makes me squirm to watch him eat that!
I'm looking forward to trying the tomato and cheese sandwich. That sounds delicious!

mmmm, I love those, best with the tomato about 1" thick and eaten while standing over the kitchen sink! My grandma used to also make plain onion sandwiches with miracle whip.

Try slicing a few tomatoes about an inch thick. Then chop up some basil into fine strips and spread a little bit over the tomatoes. Place a slice of fresh mozarella(preferrably buffalo mozarella) on each tomato slice. Then spread the rest of the basil over the cheese and drizzle with balsamic vinegar. Add salt and pepper to taste.
