I have a pink wisteria planted at my MIL house, and want to start another one. The one I have is in tree form and I have never seen a sucker. I have searched this thread and Rkayne said they are easy to root in soil. What I need to know is how big (in diameter) does the cutting need to be, and when would be the best time to take the cutting? I have several seeds from this vine but do not have the time to wait fo it to bloom. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

I would try taking cuttings with different sized diameters, as well as softwood, semi-hard, and hardwood. See what happens, and which does the best

biyu, I probably don't have enough time left to see it bloom from seed. They say it takes 10 to 15 years to bloom from seed, and only a couple from a cutting.
Thanks Aurora, that is what I will do.

Bugnut's right biyu- they can take a very long time to bloom when grown from seed.
Bugnut- Just thought of this, you could also try air-layering, or layering if there's a stem close enough to the ground. That might be even faster than a cutting
