I just moved into a beautiful house with a nice big yard. The last owner decided not to take with them the very large planter at the end of the drive way (a very sunny spot) or the 2 large planters in the back of the yard that get 3/4 of a day of sunlight.I want to put something that will yeild pretty blooming flowers but Im not sure if there's anything I can plant in the Summer or in that type of direct sunlight.Im new to gardening and all I've ever managed to keep alive to date are 2 indoor impatients and a gardienia (obviously my plant spelling is like my gardening skills-not so refined. Can anyone advise me on what to plant?

You want to use annuals and change them out for the seasons? For summer you could use lantana, vinca, marigolds, verbena, moss rose..any of those will take the heat but you got to remember to water them. Sometimes tropical plants from WalMart look nice and give good height. OOPS.....I did it again. I always give annuals instead of perennials. Sorry. |

Many ornamental grasses would look great in large containers, along with sweet potato vines. I always think of annuals in containers fairygarden- I've never been able to winter perennials over in containers. |

Jaelee definitely fill those babies up with annuals! Some tall some short and some to spill over the sides. |
