I know this may seem like a silly question, but I was wondering if it's too late into the growing season to purchase/plant a blueberry bush. I'm not expecting any fruit this year obviously, but I was curious if it would grow enough to survive a NJ winter if planted w/in the next week.

Also, I found this blueberry bush online and it's supposedly very delicious. It's called Ka-bluey and is available on gurneys' website. Has anyone had any experience growing a Ka-bluey bush or has tasted a blueberry from this bush? The link to the bush is below.

I don't know how long it would take to get established. I don't know how quickly you get cold weather. Down here where I am, I wouldn't think that it would be a problem. Maybe someone with more knowledge of your growing conditions can help you.

I can't imagine that it would be too late in the season to get some blueberries started, esp. from stock that was bred in Yankton SD, where Gurney's is located! The tricky part will be keeping the right moisture level. You'll have to be mighty careful to strike a good balance between wet enough to keep the foliage happy but not too wet to drown the roots.

FYI, they probably won't send it until Sept. as it is too hot to ship in the middle of the summer. Also, I don't know about that blueberry in particular, but some blueberries need, or do better with a second variety for cross-pollination.
