I had my local landscape retailer supply and plant a snow fountain weeping cherry. I picked it out while in the ground and it looked terrific. Part of the planting cost was a 1 year guarantee. I followed the watering instructions but after 2-3 weeks all the leaves turned brown and there is little if no growth. I had them come over to see and insisted on a replacement. They blamed me for not watering correctly. I followed their instructions, watering thoroughly every 2-3 days. Any suggestions would help immensely. |

Freshly planted trees need lots of water. I would water every morning till the tree is out of shock and is better established. |

Welcome To Garden Guides, I think you will find lots of help here with any of your gardening questions. If you post this about your tree down in the forums that discuss trees, you might get even more help. Linda B from SC Newly planted trees do need a lot of water, especially the first year. Take a large bucket (we call them pickle buckets around here) drill a needle sized hole right down at the bottom of the bucket. Then use a pine needle or two, or perhaps a toothpick and place it in the hole. Fill the bucket with water two or three times a week adjusting the pine needle or toothpick until just a bare trickle of water comes out. As I said you will need to do this for at least the first year. You can paint the bucket to blend in with your landscaping if you don't want to see a white or grey bucket every day. Good luck with your new tree. Linda B |
