I recalled my cosmos foliage as being more fern like and pulled up a few volunteers. Then my seeds came up and some of my cosmos have leaves that look a lot like that. If you can give them enough time to blossom, perhaps we will know soon!

Unfortunately Evonne, we are never going to know. It was not my plant. I was trying to help someone to ID it. She was growing tomatoes in the pot and this thug came along and was crowding out the tomato. She pulled them all out.

My second guess would be common ragweed. |

Great! It was really a large, lush plant! For me the key was the difference at the very leaf tip. |
