In the desert, we have to watch the amount of water we use. We also have very sandy soil. So I made raised beds, fortified the soil and installed a drip system which uses about 1/3 of the water. These are some pictures of our chiles, tomatoes, cilantro, lettuce, spinach, cucumbers, etc. Dan Attachments: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Hey there, Dan, a big ol' welcome! Why don't you head over to the "introductions" forum and we can do it up proper? I looked at your photos - nice garden you're growing there. I like your drip system. My old nursery man uses those in his greenhouses. |

Dan, I recently planted sweet basil myself. It can be used in salads and soups. It seems Rachel Ray mentions it quite a bit in italian cooking too. Also, when I'm not living in Miss., I also live in Las Cruces. You've come to a good forum. Welcome and enjoy.

It was neat to see that you are from Las Cruces/El Paso. The gardening is a lot different here than in other parts of the country. I'm just now starting to harvest some tomatoes. The chiles, cilantro, lettuce and spinach have been doing great. Take care and happy gardening. Dan |

Sorry, I must have missed this earlier. I didn't see your wonderful pictures of the raised beds. It looks like you have hit upon the right formula! I have a niece in Roswell. She can't seem to grow a thing! She finally had success with one tomato plant. You've really got it right! |
