I am new to fish ponding but know the helpful people here can give me some tips.
What is required to keep fish in a small pond.. that is less than 1 acre? I seeded it with catfish and large-mouth bass 18 months ago. I have two ponds and am just beginning to find out some of the facts and oddities of them.
Brood boxes?, rock salt? I'm sure there is alot to learn.

well i would provide cover of some sort for the bass as they will become stressed with out it and wont grow as big and will have a hard time reproducing as larger fish will eat the smaller ones. we had a koi pond for awhile and used a few cinder blocks up on end as a base then a wodden pallat and as many cinder blocks as it takes to sink the pallate on top of the upended blocks. it a easy and cheap way to build a covered area for breeding you want this area fairly close to shore as well. if you have a few downed trees drag them to the waters edge and let them provide some cover for your bass and then i would sugest maybe feeding them letover bread, cerial(like cherrios), fish food(pellet type) or dog food even works if you do it often enought they will get fat on the food you feeds them and will allow more of the babies to grow up enough not to be a snacks. cat fish are another matter althogh they will love being feed they like dead nasty stuff. a friend of mine has a chicken farm and when the babies die she throws them into a pond of hers and the catfish are HUGE there. they will serfice to feed when she takes a box of the dead chicks to the water. i would sugest may be try the same food as for the bass but if you have access to somethig small and dead catfish love thet stuff. you dont need a ton of stuff to make fish happy as long as the water is deep enough with cover and a food sorce .
