What do you listen to as far as music goes?

Seeing as I'm 50 my tastes are definitely along the old time rock lines. (Go figure!) I love me some Carlos Santana, Bob Seger (his early stuff) Tom Petty, Eric Clapton; Sarah Mclachan and Nora Jones for easy listening. I could go on and on but, these are some of my favs.

What do you listen to?

Classical music. Handel, C.P.E. Bach, Vivaldi, J.A. Hasse, Dvorak, even Penderecki.

I listen to a large variety of music, even going so far as to let my son put on the rap station when he's in the car but only for one way of whatever trip we might be on. I can't take too much of the sex and violence of the rap genre. When I want to hear some laid back music I always, always reach for our collection of JJ Cale CD's. Even our two year old grandson bops his head for JJ Cale and, often, goes to sleep to his music when we have him at the house.

Rock yes please, anything by the Who and the Stones. Can't go wrong with Carlos Santana or Joe Satriani. But my ultimate fave is Eric Clapton.

My Dh and I saw EC a few years ago and he was awesome! We decided we better see him before we got too old and decrepit. Just this April we went to see Carlos Santana. Man the guy can make his guitar sing!

I got to see 2 of my favorite bands of all time, Strawbs and the Moody Blues. I would have liked to see Genesis, but without Peter Gabriel I don't think it would be quite the same. I loved their old stuff an still do. Strawbs played in a small venue in Cleveland and they were awesome. MB played at Tower City Ampitheater and there was little kids to grey haired, used to be hippies there. Everyone was singing and those guys could still rock. I also saw Metallica, Godsmack, Satriani, Phil Keaggy, King's X, Dream Theater, Maynard Ferguson, Buddy Rich, Michael Stanley Band, Alex Bevan, and Peter Frampton. I think my favorite show had to be Blue Man Group. That is the most entertaining bunch of crazy people! They're indescribable. They're on PBS on occasion and I've seen their videos, but to be there and actually experience it is just too cool.
The last person I saw in a concert was a friend of my best friend next door. Paul Pitts. He's an opera singer that also does religious music and he's been on Robert Shuller's and other shows. My neighbor is a music teacher and got aquainted with him through her church. Her pastor and Paul were in college together. So I got to meet him and hear him and my friend sing together. What a treat.

Okay. I have to add that my husband took our younger son and one of his friend's to the ultimate metal concert. They went to Ozzfest about 8 years ago or so and they had a ball. Ozzy was actually there, too.

I love gospel, bluegrass gospel and rock and roll. And Christmas music. I love Billy Joel, Rod Steward, Guns n Roses, Willie Nelson, Johnny CAsh, Oakridge Boys, Statler Bros, Gold City, Tony Gore and Magesty, Bill Gathier, U2, Beach Boys, and so many more. Crosby,STills, and Nash, Paul Simon, Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Who, Billy Idol, Meatloaf, the list goes on. I absolutely love the sound track from O Brother, Where art thou?

fairygarden...we saw the Dan Tyminski Band on Saturday when we went to Greenwood for the Festival of Flowers. There were 4 bluegrass bands playing uptown. After the show they hung around and we got to talk to the bandmembers and take some pictures. I couldn't believe how friendly and down to earth they all were. It was an awesome bluegrass day.

Oh PG, how wonderful was that?!?! That festival of flowers sounds like a lot of fun. I will keep it in mind for next year. We would love to make a weekend of it, but it is SO hard for us to go anywhere for a weekend because we want to be home in our own backyard.
