I was wondering what everyone else does to control these little nasties. I hand pick and put in a bucket with water and dishsoap. To get the ones that are too high, I sometimes use my shop-vac to suck them up. I fill the canister with soapy water. I'm also going to apply Milky spore for the first time too. I'm hoping that it will really help in the years to come. |

Wolf, Ladybugs and Japanese Beetles are 2 very different bugs. JBs are shiny brownish greenish and eat your prettiest plants. I have been hand picking them this year, I dont have too many yet. Good luck with the milky spore. |

We also get green June beetles around here, which are equally destructive in their adult stage although maybe not as much the larvae. Fortunately they are not fond of rank smells, so for the most part stay away from my beds. But they love the nearby Japanese honeysuckle. And they love my neighbors' roses! I don't grow roses. The ones that get into my beds I hand-pick. I look forward to knowing your results with BT, Aurora. I've heard mixed reports. |

I found my favorite local nursery sells those cute little ladybugs by the dozon for cheap. I bought a couple dozen and then took them to my dads where he is fighting a battle with the local insect population. There just so cute! |

Wait til one of those imported Asian lady bugs pinches ya! They don't even break the skin, but they do pinch. I know that for a fact. The ones up here are more orangy than red like our regular ladybugs and they don't seem to be as prolific as they were a few years ago. When I was a kid we had raspberries that they used to get on. My grandma would take a can with water and soap or a little kerosene and knock them into the can. My best friend and I used to take that a step farther. We used to dissect them! Slowly! lol Now I use the can and soap method, but I just threaten them with ecapitation and leg and wing removal. |

CHICKENS! Just kidding, although chickens would do a number on them. Hubby uses dish soap and water. Just tap the branch, they fall in and drown. It's a stinky mess, though, when you have hundreds a day. This year for some reason, MOLES perhaps, we don't have many. Personally, I SQUISH 'em! |

Witt- it sure is a stinky mess! Last evening during our July 4th party, my husband and the other dads thought it would be loads of fun to drop firecrackers into my buckets of dead beetles. They managed to blast hundreds of stinky dead beetles all over my garden plants
