I've never, ever had a ripe eggplant in June. Heck, I've had years of total eggplant failure. Not this year!

BTW we've had a number of people inquiring about flea beetle damage. Note the condition of the leaves on my eggplant. The flea beetles get their feast and I get mine!

We had it last night in my Wednesday night soup. I must admit, it was a bit disappointing, the delicate flavor of the eggplant was lost in the powerful stock and the array of other flavors. I won't do that with the next one!

It sure was impressive looking though. A foot-long Ichaban is a sight to behold! Two more on the way.

Eggplant number two. I planted six plants over a two-week time frame. This one is from plant number two. Disclaimer: I have large hands.
