These critters have taken over everything!! We don't want to put out those traps for fear of attracting more. I don't know how to get rid of them all! They completely destroyed one rose bush in a day and are moving fast around our 4 acres. Please can anyone tell me how to kill them organically?? Thank you!!

We dont have many of them yet, but we pinch them up and kill them as we see them. I think to truely kill them, you have to use that milky spore ( I dont know much about it but I think it kills the grubs). They are hateful little bugs. They love roses and plum trees for sure!

OMG! We got infested overnite! They are eating the blackberries!! I am going to put those trap bags out to help for the immediate. My guy was telling me that there is something that goes into the dirt and then the plant roots digest it so I guess that would repel the japsters. Maybe that is what you referred to, the milky spore?? I'll let you know how it goes. I really hate to kill anything but after killing myself working hard to plant etc I am not about to let some annoying critter destroy all my hard work! Thanks!!

Larkspur is also suppose to be toxic to japanese beetles. We have corn planted around our property this year so am hoping that will help. Last year the farmer planted soy beans and I was told that soy beans attract them. I know we had tons of them last year. Right about the plum trees. I had a beatiful one until the j beetles raveged it's leaves 2 years in a row. Last year it died. But many shoots came up from it,so we'll see what happens there. And I have heard the milky spore works to kill the grubs which become j beetles. Sort of expensive but if used this year will be most beneficial next year.

I planted many larkspur seeds in cups to start so I could put them all over in my garden, but didn't have alot of luck so far with them growing. Haven't seen any j beetles yet, but it's early here for them I think. My beer, listerine, dish soap and water mix seems to be working on other bugs so far, so hopefully it will work on the beetles too.

Milky spore will work to kill the larval stage of the JBs. It take some time to work, but there is a new product on the market used for grub and nematode control. Try these sites that sell these products

http://www.arbico-organics.com/1216001.html

http://www.gardensalive.com/article.asp?ai=768&bhc d2=1214523181

I have purchased products from both of these places and been well satisfied with the service and the quality of the products. And no, I don't work for either one. LOL

The only thing I can suggest for the JB adults is hand picking and planting trap crops to draw them away from your choice plants.

If you use the pheromone traps put them well away from the plants you are trying to protect.

I hand pick them and put in soapy water.
I have four o'clocks in a few places, and I have yet to see ONE japanese beetle on any LOL! They are decimating my wisteria, witchhazel, and crepe myrtles.

I handpick and put them in soapy water, too.
I had a patch of grass a few years ago that was turning brown and getting curled. The birds, especially robins, were going to town on it, too. I read where that's from grubs which are the JB larve. I sprinkled some grub-x there that I got from a hardware store and haven't had any problems since then. Look around in your yard and see if there's any patches like that.

Something I read about them just recently is that the adults like a sunny area. My mom hasn't been bothered with them near the house, but her grapevine which is out in the open and some roses planted near the road were infested. The roses belonged to a neighbor and she put Sevin on them to kill the bugs, but I wouldn't put it on the grapes because we eat those. I hear Sevin will injure honey bees and I won't use it for that reason either.
