I have a balcony garden, I really thought it wuld be very easy planting flowers,(from seeds) but NO!! all the other balconies around us are blooming with colour, ours is blooming with weeds, twice I have started again weeded re-planted but still nothing but weeds slowly coming though. Today I bought bulbs, i am wondering if this will be easier. Can anybody please , please help before i kill these too.. I look forward to hearing back from you all.. bye for now.. |

What kinds of flowers are you trying to grow? Some are easy to start from seed. Zinnia, cosmo, 4oclocks, marigold, and sunflowers are really easy. Give us a little more info and we will try to help you get some gorgeous blooms! |

For balcony gardening, you might try marigolds (dwarf variety), pansys, nastruims, petunias. |

Your neighbors probably didn't start theirs from seeds. Now's the time to try some bedding plants. Just go to a nursery or even Walmart and pick up some pretties. Plant them in your balcony containers and you, too, will have colorful blossoms as well. There are too kinds of bulbs. Summer bloomers and fall bloomers. I think you've missed the window of opportunity for them right now. You plant the summer bloomers in the fall and the I guess a little later in the summer you would plant the others. You have to do a little research on when to plant which bulbs. My suggestion is to get some easy to grow summer annuals for now. Make sure you buy the ones that will tolerate your balcony conditions, like is it in full sun, shade, etc. Post questions in the various forums if you need help with your choices. You'll see ANNUALS, PERENNIALS, BULBS, etc. |
