I have a "Dorothy Rose" columbine. I have never seen such a beautiful flower and they are starting to fade leaving seed pods. The seed pods are still green. Do I wait until they dry on the plant and grab them before the seeds fall? |

I wait until they are dry, I have been letting mine self so for the last two years, so I don't pick them any more but I am getting some wonderful volunters(sp?) |

I wait till mine dry on the plant and then just bend them over a small paper bag and they just fall right out! |

They are easy seeds to catch and witt has a great plan. I usually let some self seed and collect the rest.. I always enjoy that early bloomer! |

Yes, it's a great idea, but you never get them all in the bag! I have plenty to self-seed because they just go everywhere if you aren't careful. No matter how hard I try, I hear them scattering. It's still the best way that I have come up with besides a big plastic bowl. I've used that, too, in the past. |

It scared me to death the first time I bumped a dried stem. I wasn't expecting a rattle, but it was a pleasant surprise to see all those seeds. |
