Great job! Doesn't it make you feel good about doing something like this? I always feel a sense of great accomplishment. You have maters already???

Oh, yes, I love to see my accomplishments in jars in the pantry!! SC. has a long growing season and I planted as early as possible with the hopes that we didn't get a late frost..like last year. I lost 300 tomato plants last season and had to replant. This year was great with the toms. Too bad I can't say the same for the cucs. They just didn't do well and I had to replant those. Hopefully the new row will do well. I like to can pickles too.. although I cheat on that and use the Mrs. Wages pickling mix.

You might could sell some of those tomatoes to McDonald's & Burger King about now! Think of the profit!!!

I wish I "had" all those tomatoes that are being tossed out by the fast food chain! There's nothing wrong with them that a little cooking doesn't cure. And canning of course would be the ideal cure.

Such a waste if cooking decontaminates them. I don't sell mine, I grow them for my own use and to give to those around me that has none.
I guess fast food places will feel the hurt with no tomatoes. I sure wouldn't want a burger with no tomato!

You got me at losing 300 tomato plants!!! You can all those yourself? Does anyone come in and help you? That's something that the moms at our church have done in the past. One mom will go another mom's house and bring the kids. That way, there's always one mom to intervene with the kids and tend to their needs, while the other mom is doing the canning. Really helps and tends to go fast. Wow, 300!

I had to cut back on my garden this year, got about 175 plants. Yep, I can tomatoes all by myself. Hubby and I are empty nesters so theirs no little ones around to distract me. My daughters and their families has no interest till it's set on the table for dinner! It's ok though..I enjoy all of it.
