This is a cheap rain water collecting system was all made with scraps 2 barrels was free 2 i paid 5 bucks each. The trash can is a heavy commercial model with a hole drilled near the bottom and a used shut off and a garden hose. the downspout from a roof flows into the trash can and a garden hose goes to the barrels. Its not nice looking but it works.

Awesome! Inspirational! Just looking at what you've done with simple, inexpensive, but sturdy materials. Thanks for posting this, wwpa. I sure like your gardening style.

Wow! You're right. It ain't purty, but who cares. It works.
I have buckets all over my patio to catch every drop that I can get. One big problem! It never rains!!

That's great! I'm trying to do the same basic thing but boy howdy are barrels expensive around here!!! Cost more to save water than to buy it! Like buying compost etc.
