should deadhead clematis and will they rebloom?i have mums coming up and need to know how far to cut back. half, less, or more?

The clematis should bloom through-out the season- I don't know if you need to dead head though.
You could probably pinch back 1/4 to 1/3 of the mums.

I never deadhead my Clematis and they do just fine with reblooms. As far as your Mums, depends how tall a variety they are. Typically 1/3 off is safe in June. I have some tall varieties (40") that I take another 1/3 off in early July to keep their height down as they flop over with top-heavy blooms and Fall rains. Hope this helps

For mums I cut back twice before mid-June, about 1/3 of the stems. They always bloom prolifically. Until I move them, then I have to wait a year!!

As for clematis, rebloom depends on the variety, doesn't it? Some clematis bloom early and maybe again later, some bloom all season. I have two new ones and am waiting to see what they do. There is a site about pruning, which also depends on variety, but I've never dead-headed mine. I think the spent blooms look interesting!
