Hello everyone, Just a little about me. I'm from Westbrook, Maine. I started gardening last year in containers. I loved it so this year I have made raised beds to give myself & partner 80 sq ft of veggie space. We also have a couple of flower beds and some lilac. Oh yeah can't forget the 4 blueberry bushes. I figure the more I plant the less I will have to mow In my spare time I have to work. I'm an RN and work for the Northern New England Poison Center 1-800-222-1222 (we also discuss poisonous plants). My partner and I love to fish, camp, geocache & spend time w/ our family and our kids (1 dog 2 cats). I'm very much a newbie at gardening but absolutely love it even weeding it! So any advice anyone wants to give is very welcome. My delemia at this time is that I'm having a hard time deciding what is a weed and what is an actual seedling. I hope I have not pulled any veggies Take Care & Be Safe Shari |

Welcome to GG from New York! I'm a big fan of raised garden beds because of a bad back. Roots go deep without soil compaction, so you can plant a whole lot closer too!! Enjoy, look around, learn and share! |

Welcome Shari from another micro gardener. You know you're a micro gardener when you count the number of individual seeds you sow. Lessee, 25 carrots, 12 broccolis, 10 leeks, 50 peas . . . |

Welcome to Garden Guides! We're so glad that you joined us. I probably have pulled up a lot of plants thinking that they were weeds, too! Grab your camera and takes some pix. There's always someone here who can ID it for you! Have fun! |

Welcome to GG from WI, shari! I had to laugh at the mention of counting seeds as you planted. Personally I draw the line at attempting to count carrot seeds, but have actually had to scale down my version of the compact gardener this year. Only 11 snow pea plants, way down to a mere 7 tomatoes, and the blackberry bushes will have to duke it out with those carrots for real estate... As far as not wanting to pull up any crops thinking they're weeds, that's why I plant in straight lines, even use the little strings to keep me on the straight and narrow, so to speak. That way I know if something pops up outta line, it must be an "undesireable." Although I've been known to let a few interesting "weeds" grow because they looked cool or different. In my garden, if you have a flower on you, you're safe... Thanks for joining us, feel free to dig 'round, and have fun! |

Hello Shari, Welcome to Garden Guides. I am a small plot owner and do my veggies in pots--the flowers rue the land here. Also here in the Northeast and not digging this crazy weather....poke around in the forums and the plants tab there is lots of info. Nice to meet ya! Sincerely, Jo |

Welcome to Garden Guides. When I saw your user name, I thought it would read better as seeking2share. Your friend, Bill Mitchell |
