I know there has been bad weather all over the US. To those with storms, tornados, floods, my heart goes out to you. To those of us caught in this heatwave, I have to say be careful. I know we are all sensible adults, but the nurse in me is shouting....the body is wonderfully strong and resilient, but also so fragile. Please dont overdo or get dehydrated. As much as we all want to care for our yards and gardens, we must care for ourselves first. Yall are the best! |

I have been taking it it in little spurts and drinking lots of drinks in between. Doesn't seem like I am getting much done but it is getting done. Thank you for the warning. ![]() PS drinking alcohol or cafinated beverages only hurts you. I know for 1 can of pop it takes 2 cans of water just to break even. We really have to watch our scouts at camp this time year as they don't seem to believe us when we tell them this. |

It's miserably hot here already and will get worse before it gets better. I try and do all my gardening early in the morning or late afternoon. I got a half bushel of tomatoes today..I'm so proud! thanks for the reminder. |

I try to do my work early in the morning or later in the evening, too. I saw a lady out today around 2:00 pushing a lawn mower. That could not have been too good for her. I doubt we will even cut our grass again until it rains. I am worried about stressing it. |

FG, I too was thinking about the grass. It needs to be mowed for looks, but It is so hot, I fear it will just brown out altogether. Think I will wait and see how it goes next week.Just finished turning off the last of the soaker hoses. Our plants don't know what to do any more than we do. First they can't grow at all because of the cool weather and now it feels hotter than Hades. Stay healthy everyone and garden wisely. Linda B |

Thank You! I did that the last couple of weeks working beyond what I should have outdoors. I got very dehydrated and ended up going to the emergency room. Water is so hard to drink..yet when you do your body loves you for it and functions right..and after drinking a few glasses you will find yourself loving it. |

I find that a few drops of lemon juice in it helps. It gives a little flavor, is healthy and actually helps quench your thirst a little better. I have about 1/2 dozen old pop bottles that I have rinsed and filled half full of water and put in the freezer. When I want to take a drink outside with me, I take out one of those, fill it the rest of the way with cold water and a few drops of lemon juice. Then I put it in a neopreem bottle coozy and take it out with me. It will stay cold enough for me to get it finished off and when I want another one I fill the empty one and put it in the freezer as I take another one out. I just find I drink better when it is handy and I can sip on it as I go. If I have to drop everything to go inside and get a drink I won't do it. |

It's so true. My husband always refused to drink just "plain" water, but once I got him to drinking it, now he can't stop! He realized how much better he feels. He keeps a glass of ice and water in the fridge at all times now. No more pop and he's now down to one cup of coffee a day. Unbelievable since it used to be coffee and pop ALL day. |
