I have had to move more than one plant away from a pulmonaria (lungwort) in my garden. Some plants seem just fine and others do not. Plants don't actually die, they just do not grow - at all. Does anyone know anything about pulmonaria or where I should look for info? I have three different colors of flowers - white, blue and a purple/red combination. They have attracted hummingbirds in the past and I would not want to get rid of them. Attachments: ![]() |

I have never heard of lungwort having noxious roots- but that doesn't mean anything. I don't know a lot of things about plants and learn more everyday

You can try planting the pulminaria in a pot and sinking the pot into the garden where you want it. Just make sure the pot is at least 10 inches deep and you put at least 8 inches below soil level. This will keep the roots contained and not allow them to go wherever they want. Just note, you will have to repot it every couple years to prevent it from becoming rootbound. |

I have not had any difficuly growing anything next to pulmonarias. I even have one that is buried under some sort of wild mallow, daylilies, jacobs ladder (varigated and regular), and white bleeding heart. Soon, I will have to get in there and rescue it! Here are a few photos to show you. In any case, I suspect it may be something about the area and not the plant itself. Attachments: ![]() ![]() |

Taking a break from the heat. Thank you for the insight. Love the sweet little pansies next to the pulmonaria. The site could be my problem. The last plant I had to move was a heuchera. |
