Two weeks ago I collected a double handfull of green willow branches, I cut them into 4in pieces and put them in a pot with a cup of water and brought them to a broil. I let it cool and took a cutting of the rose in the first picture I used the cutters and made a wound on two sides, about an inch long at the bottom of the cutting. I made a hole in the ground and filled it with the willow soup and planted the cutting. Today it is starting to grow new leaves. I was thrilled, so I took two cuttings from the next two roses and planted them the same way. Maybe I will have more roses than I can smell. John Attachments: ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Willow is a natural rooting hormone, it has the most rooting ability than most all other trees. I read about it a few years ago but just now tried it, I am sold, because the rooting hormone powder and liquid is so expensive. I will most definatly use it on everything I try to root. John |

That second rose is lovely. Know the name of it? Also, how long are your rose cuttings? Is it from a tip or a branch? |

I take a cutting from a stem that has just bloomed, it is about 8 to 10 inches long, the bottom is about the size of a pencil. I don't know the name of the second rose, but I sure do like it. I have a lot of better photos in my profile. John |

I dont know the names of some of mine, either. Thanks for the info. Oh yeah, I looked at your pixs. Love the UFOs on the beautiful zinnias. Zinnias are one of my favorite flowers. |
