My cousin sent me this recipe. The author said that his birds would just eat it UP! I made it and it just sat there and molded. Of course, I didn't have a pair of bluebirds like I do now.
Has anyone tried this? Does it work for you? I'd like to try again if I thought it would be a great treat for our bluebirds.

2 cups water
1 cup quick grits (not instant)
2-4 TBSP butter
1/4 cup crunchy peanut butter.
Mix water, grits, and butter in sauce pan.  Cook down until very thick like a ball.  Allow to cool a few minutes before adding peanut butter.  Serve!

I should have put this in the Bird Feeding section. Should I move it?
Should this only be given in the winter or will it be ok now. I sure don't want to disrupt their egg-laying and baby feeding, should there be some babies.

I would think any bird would like this mixture. I am going to try it in my suet feeders before it gets 90 degrees outside. UCK! Not looking forward to those temps. Linda B

Thanks for moving this, yardgranny.

I'll give it another try now that we actually have bluebirds. I think I'll make the balls smaller and that way maybe they won't have time to get moldy before some bird gets to it. I did make them sort of large that one time.
