THANKS, wolf!! Ok. Let me see if I have this straight. You take the top off the jub, cut a hole in the bottom, and bury it almost level with the soil. That doesn't look too difficult. I see that you use many jugs. Maybe that was his problem when he said that it didn't work. He just didn't have enough of them. I'll share these pix with him. Thanks loads. All of you guys are just fabulous.
If anyone has a picture of their set-up, I'm sure Hubby would love to see them.

Witt i let the lid on some folks remove the lids and i cut 4 to 6 holes around the jug kind of spreads the water around but i dint think it makes much difference. I use 2 jugs for each plant.i use a utility knife to cut the jugs be careful lol. the jugs work great and save loads of water it all gets to the roots.

the roots of the plants don't grow into the holes in the jugs?

Let me understand---you bury the jug upside down and pour the water into the jug? I like that idea!

fairygarden, thats what i do other people bury the jugs right side up and use the opening to fill the jugs with water but i like the bigger hole to fill the jug. I have 25 tomato plants to water and 50 jugs to fill if we don't get rain.
