I just placed an order with an online nursery, and as a free gift, they give exotica bulbs and flowering shamrocks. Does anyone know what these are?? I'm a bit nervous about planting free gifts, as they might be invasive. Thanks for any help you can offer.

They are Peacock Orchids. Not invasive as far as I know, and not a true orchid either. I'm not sure about the Shamrock tho- some Oxalis can spread. |

The shamrock is probably oxalis. They can become invasive, but I love mine. They are supposed to be really tough although I have lost a few around here! |

Hehehe Witt. I'm the same way- the easier the plant is supposed to be, the more likely I am to kill it (Ivy, cactus, daisies, etc,) Where-as if they are supposed to be really picky and tough, they thrive for me

Oxalis are invasive in my part of the country, but they are pretty when in bloom. I'd plant them in a container.

Wow-That doesn't look like any shamrock I have seen. That one is something I wouldn't mind growing with my houseplants! |
