From a few feet away, these 3 bushes don't look too bad. But last week I noticed that they certainly had some issues -- it looked like that white powdery mold/fungus. At first I thought it was mud that had splashed up on the leaves from the rain (and I put pin straw mulch under these guys a few days ago to help with that). But no -- it was definately a white, powdery mildew. So I sprayed on Organacide (an organic pesicide/fungicide). Along with the white powder -- I am seeing a lot of yellowed and dead leaves (in the second picture) and also that some of the new growth is coming out deformed (the following pictures). What is happening

Something sure is attacking it. Do you have them in full sun? They do like the sun. |

Did you check for spider mites or aphids? I would suspect spider mites, since you saw a lot of white stuff. http://www.seedsofknowledge.com/butterflybush.html |

They enjoy full sun in the morning - mid afternoon, then after that it's dappled shade... but I did read that due to our climate, the area is super prone to fungus on plants, we have the perfect conditions for it, apparently. Eve ~ I looked pretty close and didn't see any insects or attacking creatures, but if they are quite small I may have missed it. I'm going to check out that link
