I'll need to make quite a bit (for several 10 gallon containers and several smaller ones) I'm assuming that it's cheaper to make my own in bulk right? |

the pots im startin this year there clay pots decent size (well i got baby not small STUPID STUPID STUPID me but itill work ok) im dooin topsoil an compost/manure mix fer the soil i have pots ive done that fer YEARS with an herbs there just fine actually id say there better but most say im dooin all wrong |

Making do with what is readily available, I mix 50-50-50 finished compost, topsoil, and ground up, well-rotted leaves. That way I come out with half again as much. |

My city gives compost for free (mostly rotted leaves) so that's a bonus. Don't I need some lighter material in there too? Would peat moss and compost work well? |

That is a bonus! My City used to do that, but now sells it to a private enterprise, who resells it to the public. Still very cheap. |
