Can anybody tell me if you can plant a cantaloupe in a container? What about cucumbers?

I haven't personally tried cucumbers or cantaloupes in containers but you can pretty well grow anything that is suitable for your area. Watering is probably the most important factor. If plants don't get enough water they die!!! The bigger the container the better as it won't dry out so quickly. There is a free report about container gardening at http://ContainerSmallGarden.com/freereport you may find useful. Dotjc. |

I don't see why not if your container is large enough to support it. |

Thank you for your responses. I am new to container gardening and I wish to give them a try. I am just so afriad that I will kill the little seedlings. This will be the first season that I have been able to grow healthy cantaloupes from seeds. For some reason, they always died in the past. Wish me luck!!!!

Yes, I have planted one cantaloupe in a large pot. It is now about 4 inches tall and growing very strong.

I have been given a cantaloupe plant and plan to put it into a pot. Can anyone tell me what size pot and what kind of soil to use? |
