18 Gallon Rubbermaid totes for tomatoes?

Would these be large enough to grow indeterminate tomato plants? I would have them on my deck up against the railing so I would be able to have some good support for them once they get large.

I think that would work fine. Remember, more water and fertilizer in those containers!

Yup! I just recently learned that actually. Maybe that's why my squash and peppers in containers didnt do so well huh?

I already read that I need to use a soiless media?

I've never used a "soil less mix". Don't know anything about that. Be sure to drill holes in the bottom of your containers for drainage. The dirt will "sour" if you don't.

You're right about the soil-less mix. It's nothing other than container or potting soil, like Miracle-Gro. Don't use the garden soil in a container.
