My niece has tried for two years to grow a watermelon. This year she's planted four plants in my garden and the leaves are shriveling. She's 6 and I don't want her to be disappointed again this year. I'd love to save it if there's anyway to do so, but I know nothing about watermelon except how to eat it. Any suggestions or hints would be welcomed!! |

I really wish I could help you! Hopefully some of the others who do a lot of veggie gardening will give advice so we can both learn! BTW- my son is 6, and my daughter's 5, so I know how you feel

I wish I could help too. I too am trying to grow watermelons for the second time. Last year, the vines grew a bit and they began producing small watermelons, but then they shriveled up and died. If it isn't lack of water, then I can't really tell you how to remedy it. |

Thanks getterdonedave. I sprayed fungicide on all of my vining plants this morning. Hope they all live and thrive this year.
