He Everyone... I need a little advice.

My parents were going to just cut down this Crepe Myrtle, but I just couldn't let that happen. I love them! Anyhow... I had it dug up and moved it over to my front yard. One reason my Mom thought it wasn't doing well was due to not getting enough sun. Now it is in my front yard, and getting plenty. I dug a hole plently big, put down some fresh soil, put the CP in and covered with a good fresh potting soil. I put out a little mulch, and watered it well with some added root stimulator. This was all about a month ago.

Since then it has been just looking a bit droopy, but didn't look like it was dying. Then it really perked up, and was looking great. I was very excited. Then we got an extremely heavy rain, and I noticed it is looking all droopy again. Today I gave it a little Miracle Grow, and trimmed off some "excess" brances. I remember reading that can help when transplanting or trying to save due to the plant or tree not having to work so hard to feed these. I really didn't cut off much though. This way it can focus its energy and nutrients to more substantial branches. I hope this was ok to do.

I guess the main questions are 1. How long will it take to know for sure if it will make it or not. 2. What is the proper care for something this size to be transplanted?

I appreciate any advice ya'll may have. I attached a couple pics, but it was hard to get good ones.

Thanks!

I am no expert, but they are pretty hardy trees. Could it be transplant shock? I would quit giving it anything other than water for a while and see how it does. Probably a good thing you did when you trimmed it up a bit. Good Luck.

I had rescued some small CP's from a building site before they would be bulldozed. They both died back after replanting them. The following year they came back just fine and even produced some flowers. This year they budded out before all the other CP's in the neighborhood!
Here's my advice- just water it. It may die back, but will most likely come back.
Keep us updated!

Thanks, I was wondering about feeding it, so I will lay off that for a while. Can you tell me if I should water it very often or pretty much the same as the other plants.

I always water a newly planted plant more often than an established one. For trees, I water heavily for at least 1 year, then I tend to start watering more sporadically the second year
I think making sure a tree is watered consistently and deeply is important to help it recover from being transplanted.
