I've always kept my jade plants inside - if I put them outside, do they need filtered sun?
Also, how much/how often should I pinch back to encourage a plant that will be 'bushy' (I am thinking of those glorious 100-year old jades that are so dense, or are they multiple plants??)

Last summer when I was living in upstate NY, I kept mine out on the back deck all summer. I did have some sunburning of the leaves, but it recovered and did nicely with about a half day full, half partial sun. It was a green Ovata type. I will be putting it out again here in MI,being careful to acclimate it slower this time.

Thanks for posting! I'll try to find a filtered sun spot for it so I can enjoy it outside!!

I always put all of my houseplants outside for the summer once the nighttime temps are consistently above 50.
I put most of them on my front porch (we call it the Rockwood porch because we live on a corner lot, with 2 porches ) They get bright indirect light and they thrive- especially with our humidity
