Help. I'm being invaded by forest ants. You know, the big suckers! Mostly it's the black ones, but I have seen a few of the red variety. They are everywhere! They have "homes" underground in various places. I was removing some leaf litter behind The Cement Garden and came across a hole in the ground. Evidently, they don't build mounds. They're all in my new Daffodil Bed, Aunt Winnie's Garden and now marching all over my back patio. They always seem to be "toting" something. What can I do to rid the yard, especially the concrete patio, of these large ants. They don't usually bite unless they get tangled up in the crease of your joints like your elbow or get trapped in your clothing when they crawl on you. What's the best solution? We've never had this many before.

I think Terro now makes an outdoor ant killer. I really like their stuff for indoor ants...not sure if it would control forest ants though.
I'd go to my personally favorite toy stores (L, or HD) and look at the listed species on all the ant killers. You can save yourself the time with the Amdro- they aren't listed.
Good Luck!
