I've been soaking joshua tree seeds thinking what the heck let me try it. Today, i wanted to add water to my seeds and guess what I found? A seed has sprouted! LOL...now what? do i leave it in water so it can grow some more? plant it in dirt? I didn't think it would actually work, sheesh!

Edit: almost forgot about the california avocado I ate today! The seed/pit also has one root. I put it in water, is it ok? Anyway, I'll look this part up...if I remember correctly a subject on avocado has already been started!

I wanted to take a picture of the one & I found two!

I tried to take a picture of the avocado pit but it's a slipper little bugger & the root keeps sticking to itself...picture don't show the root.

That is so cool! I say plant the tree seeds.
When I found apple seeds in an apple that had already sprouted I planted them in a pot. They have grown great, and at 5-6 months old they are 8-12 inches tall! I let them grow all winter on my kitchen windowsill.

Just found some more joshua seeds with roots! I planted the first two in dirt. A tiny little thing has grown with two leaves...it's tall but sooooooooo tiny I can't tell what it is! I wonder if it's the seeds! can't wait to find out.

Aurora I've tried apple seeds with no luck! That's so cool yours are growing! Have pictures to share?

Posting this for someone. Hope no one minds.

These are from last year had to knock this pod down with a stick. It was pretty high up.

The pod has a lot of white seeds too. Not sure if they will grow like the one I soaked in water (above) because these are old.

The above ones died. When I was moving I forgot to water them.

Anway, here it is.

Rashell, I took 7 random seeds and put them in water. They started sprouting in 3 days. So the old seeds are still viable. I will pot these up tomorrow.

Wow. Where did you get those seeds? I will try looking online for some, but those are such neat looking trees.
