Does Anyone know this shrub?

It has very fragrant flowers and the bee's love it. I noticed around the neighborhood that several people have the same shrubs that we do. Is that odd or maybe because its an old neighborhood? Anyways there are some shrubs like these that people have shaped or put behind other smaller plants it really looks good. Mine are on a side of the house that really doesn't get much attention so I have to make it get some now. Attachments: ![]() ![]() |

Here's my GUESS after looking through my tree/shrub book. Please keep in mind that I'm not so good identifying trees and shrubs yet, and it only includes natives. If the leaves have a spicy odor when crushed, with a central end bud not present it's an Allspice. If the leaves aren't aromatic, with a central end bud present then it's a Fringetree. It may also be some kind of viburnum. |

I saw this at Home Depot today and it has been used for a long time as a foundation planting by builders. I feel pretty sure this is your shrub. Ligustrum: smells so nice. That does look like it...I had cut mine back so far when we moved into this home ..so that the meters could be read and I did not even know it bloomed and smelled so good until this year! Thank You!!Looks and id's like the Ligustrum japonicum (after a lot of comparing!)Thanks! finding most of my plants are "japanese" variety
