On a visit to Portland, Oregon - I tried some blackberry jam at my hotel. It was the best thing since sliced bread. I don't even LIKE blackberries normally. But Marionberries are unbelievable.

I've been searching online to see if I could find a nursery or anyone selling the plants or even the seeds so that I could grow these myself.

Does anyone have any ideas?

Thank you.

I'd try calling the hotel to see where the jam came from. From that info you would then know what regions to look in.
Or call your local extension, they might know as well.
I hope you fine some, and if you do, please let us know

Marionberry jam IS Oregon! It's kind of what maple syrup is to Vermont. It's a cross between two blackberries, developed at the University of Oregon. If you want the jam, you can have it shipped from several companies or from the Made in Oregon store. If you google marionberry plants, you should find a link for some plants.

I'll have to buy some jam. I didn't know it was that special!

Edit: I looked in my Forest Farm catalog, which has the most extensive plant catalog in Oregon (550 pages!) and they don't list marionberries in the blackberry section. There might be a reason they don't ship the vines. Their phone number is 541-846-7269. They should be able to answer all your questions.

I don't know whether you got an answer you wanted or not. The marion berry has been somewhat supplanted by the Sylvan Berry. Both are developments of Oregon State University (that's the ag place, Sweetle) lol.
One Green World dot com has the most extensive berry selection in our area. Berry Empire is another possibility. I got mine at Al's Fruit and Garden who also have a website but I don't know if they ship or not.

Great leads, Fritz! And glad to make your acquaintance. Our climate here in Asheville somewhat resembles that of coastal Oregon (y'all get more rain, but we speak with more of a drawl) so marionberries should do well for me.

Keeper!

Here's a company that sells marionberry starters:

Ah, yes Raintree. Oddly enough, both it and OGW were "Raintrees" once a few years back. It seems the mr. and mrs. had some disagreement and now they're two competing companies. The good thing is they're some miles apart probably too far to fight lol.
