Will clematis grow well in afternoon sun only? I would like to grow some on the trellis against our shed. In the morning it is completely in shade, then about 1 until sunset it's full sun. I know I would need to place something to "shade" the roots. I'm in zone 7b-8a, and the summer sun can be very hot, and humid. |

That should be just fine. Full sun is considered 6 to 8 housr of unfiltered sun. |

It will probably be a little slower in the spring. My afternoon shade clems are half the size of the ones in full sun. The house shades that part of the yard until May, but they still come up and set buds in full shade. Then they get full sun for the summer. |
