I am getting a new compost bin tomorrow and it is FREE. WOOHOO. Getting it thru reuseit.com. I just have to go pick it up. Finally a real compost bin and it collapses for easier moving. Now I won't have to keep using my old wash machine tub.

Woohoo!!
I'm still using the three sided type that needs lots of manual labor to turn. Even harder to do now because we stacked the patio pavers in front of them when we started the addition

I guess we do it the lazy man's way. We just have piles on the ground. We have about six in various stages of decomposition. We just pitchforth them over whenever we think of it. They would do faster if we'd get more rain. They are on the edge of the woods, so I guess we have an advantage.

Lucky you, MamaBear!

I have a few piles too, but the kitchen waste is currently going into The Barrel. The Barrel is not working so well. Not enough air flow in there, I'm sure. I desperately need to replace it with something that works a lot better.

And costs very little. I'll have to start watching reuseit dot com and see if I can get lucky like MamaBear!

We also just started our compost bin

We bought a 64 gallon trash can with wheels on it from Lowe's -- it was $19

Then, my husband drilled a BUNCH of holes all over it, on every side. I'm hoping this will work... I bought the 64 gallon size instead of the smaller one because I think it'll be easier to get it only 1/2 way full or so and still be able to "stir it up".

I'll have to let you know how it works out because it didn't cost much at all... and with the wheels on the can I should be able to tote it around when I need to use the compost in different areas.

Sounds good to me. Hey, I was using the tub out of an old washing machine before.

My new bin is in my back yard and I am so tickled.
