Last July 4th weekend we started replacing the floorboards and posts of our front porch. We need to add handrails, cover a crappy cement stoop with wooden steps and make new steps on the side of the porch (it's a wrap around) - a few pics for effect. So far the floor is done but the second coat of stain hasn't been done, the posts are painted but still in the shed, and I have no handrails or wooden steps anywhere! God bless my DH, he works full time and does lots of other things, but boy do I want my porch done! Attachments: ![]() ![]() |

I love it too. I usually have several projects running at the same time. DH is much more focused. |

Love your home!!How inviting.. I would love a wrap around porch!! Yes we are in the middle of several projects. Hubbys health does not allow him to do much so I do what I can and then hire it done or see if I can beg some help from the sons in law..LOL First big thing this spring is to get someone in with a bobcat and level off the driveway in order to put down some new gravel. Then it is on to finishing up the new walk and steps on the front and side of the house. One thing always leads to another too..

I agree, your house is wonderful. I usually have many projects going on, and I can appreciate your frustration at not having a fully functional porch. I'm currently needing to finish painting a bedroom which I started many months ago. I'm sanding/repairing kinks and cracks in the walls, which is one reason why it's taking so long. I also wanted to refinish the floor since I have all of the furniture out, but I think I ought to wait on that, since gardening, etc. has gotten in the way and I am not working on schedule. I started painting a mural in the front entrance about four years ago. It's about 99% finished. This house needs so much work, and so many things can get in the way... but eventually.

CarolineC you need to post a picture of your mural! What a neat idea-would love to see it. Thanks everyone for the compliments on the house - I fell in love with it even though it has 1950s asbestos shingles!!! |

Geeze, we have so many projects that need finishing! Last year, my husband decided he needed to put new siding on the garage. He got one side done. 3 more to go! My hubby works full time + a lot of o.t., and he isn't one that likes to hire things done. I do what I can and try to motivate him when we get the time..... |

Here are two pics... neither of which is even up to date. I have since removed (most ) of the tape around the edges, and also, there are a lot more flowers in the band that goes around. To do: take more updated photos of the mural ha ha.

Both projects are going to look beautiful once they are done!
