Mom gave me a philodendron bipinnatifidum (?) when it was a tiny little thing & it was right around the time I got married. It's about 8-10 years old, maybe a little older.

I've moved it once before but it was not this big. I know it has long roots. It took a long time to dig it up when it was small. Seeeee it didn't die but how about if I move it now?

I wanna take it with me for obvious reasons but I'd rather leave it if moving it will kill it.

Wow! Look at that! Wow, again! I don't know if something that large and tender could be moved, but I'll bet someone here knows!

I just read the roots are as long and wide as the plant. I don't think moving it will be possible. It will destroy the planter & probably the tree. It really is too big...guess it has to stay. I'm sure others will say the same thing

Oh that's too bad
Could you try to take a cutting before you move? That way you can always have a piece of it

If you are willing to spend some money, ANYTHING is possible. You can rent the heavy equipment and a truck to transport the tree and do it yourself..or pay someone to come, dig it out, and transport it to the new location. I see huge trucks employed by the city carrying HUGE palm trees to be planted around expressways all the time. If they can transplant those monsters, I'm sure they can transplant your tree. Yes, you would have to remove everything around it, but I'm sure you can replace that easily.

Once you get a price quote, the question is exactly how much is your sentimental value towards this plant worth?

If it's ok to move it, heck I'll do it myself even if it takes a week!

Thanks Damethod I'll look into it & update you all!

Edit: almost forgot...my neighbor said most palm trees have short roots, they are not long. They can easily be removed no matter how big they are. you all might want to verify this, just wanted to mention it. This also reminds me, I can ask him if they can help me remove it. He does this sort of thing too! It's good to have great neighbors!
