Has anybody every tried these cute little wasp traps? I ordered them thru the mail, from Seventh Avenue. It says to use any kind of sweet liquid and then just hang them up. I'm sure by the end of summer they won't look so pretty.

I never caught a wasp in mine. Mine wasn't so cute either.

Yes, I've had one. It got the yellow jackets, but I never got a wasp. I found that if I didn't mix up the "formula" that was recommended exactly right, I wouldn't get anything. They're no fun to clean out either, especially if you still have some live ones in there.

I have one. I think I got mostly flies with mine. They can be a mess to clean, but I like it for it's decorative value, regardless.

That would be a good recommendation for me then. The only kind of wasps I get that aren't at least innocuous -- and in many cases are beneficials -- are yellow jackets.

There are only two animals on this good Earth that I actually relish the opportunity to kill. The other is cockroaches.

Ooh! Smashing a yellow jacket can be very dangerous. They put out some kind of scent when they get swatted, and it attracts all the yellow jackets in the area. Believe me I know! I swatted one on the concrete and smushed him real good. Two more came, so I got them. Before I knew it there were twenty or more. Unh, unh. I'll never do that again!
The big old wood bee probably wouldn't be attracted to the lure. I think they just like to find a place in your house where there is no paint and try to bore into that, or they just love to fly in your face and annoy you. They won't hurt you, so I leave them alone.

So now I'm wondering...the instructions said to fill with sweet liquid. They did not say WHAT kind of sweet liquid. What do you fill it with???

Indeed. Been there, done that, got stung many, many times.

The trap sounds wonderful, even if somewhat less than instant gratification.
