pegaleg1960, I have started from my lantana just by taking cuttings and starting in water. I hope this helps. I would like to take the time and invite you to go to the introduction forum and introduce yourself.

The butterfly bush responds very well to layering. That's as simple as laying a branch on the ground, scoring slightly with the thumbnail, covering with soil, and keeping it moist. In a few weeks in spring, the rooted start can be separated from the main plant and replanted. If necessary lay something on it hold it down or use a piece of wire.

I just take some cuttings in the summer, put them in a pot of soil, and water well. Then I place the pot in a shady area and in nothing flat, you've got a pot full of butterfly bushes. They are EASY to propagate.

During the growing season I have just stuck them in the ground next to the big plants. They are not hard to root.

I have also put cuttings in my coldframe in the fall and by spring have nice little plants. Linda B
