pegaleg1960, I have started from my lantana just by taking cuttings and starting in water. I hope this helps. I would like to take the time and invite you to go to the introduction forum and introduce yourself. John |

The butterfly bush responds very well to layering. That's as simple as laying a branch on the ground, scoring slightly with the thumbnail, covering with soil, and keeping it moist. In a few weeks in spring, the rooted start can be separated from the main plant and replanted. If necessary lay something on it hold it down or use a piece of wire. Fritz |

I just take some cuttings in the summer, put them in a pot of soil, and water well. Then I place the pot in a shady area and in nothing flat, you've got a pot full of butterfly bushes. They are EASY to propagate. |

During the growing season I have just stuck them in the ground next to the big plants. They are not hard to root. I have also put cuttings in my coldframe in the fall and by spring have nice little plants. Linda B |
