In the 25 years plus at my present location, I have never watered my periwinkle. Here in NJ, it is considered an evasive plant and can survive anything. I do have to keep my small patch in check. So it does not get out of control |

You probably couldn't kill them if you tried. |

yeah...don't even bother watering them. They're extremely invasive in most of the U.S. They'll grow and grow and grow and grow...Honestly? It'd be best to get rid of them. If not that, just keep them in check. I doubt fertilizer will ever be needed. |

i have a divider to keep the periwinkles from crossing into bare dirt. if they cross over, will weed killer kill the vinca minors? |

HaHaHaHaHa! Doubt it! My mom's vinca just completely choked out a tree and smothered the roots till the tree rotted and a very large branch fell off. She has tried everything under the sun to kill that stuff! It even took over the English Ivy! |

I was given some lily of the valley pips and there was periwinckle mixed in. I have been spending the last 6 years pulling the stuff out, just to have it come back stronger than ever The Lily of the Valley are spreading nicely, and look so pretty next to the hostas and azaleas

I love periwinkle and really do need things I can't kill, lol So far -- just whatever water they get from rain has been just fine -- but yes, you'll need to keep a close eye on them -- keep them in the intended area. As long as you do that, I think they make a great little groundcover
