Hey all you backyard bird lovers, what birds are you seeing this spring?

My back yard feeders can get pretty busy during spring. Some birds stop by maybe migrating through, some returning from the south, and the "regulars" start changing colors. This is the first warbler I have seen at the feeders this spring. I think it is a "Yellow-rumped Warbler".

I see lots of woodpeckers, finches, sparrows, cardinals, juncos, chickadees, nuthatches, and more. Sometimes I see blue jays, hawks, blackbirds, orioles, and even ducks. Rarely, I've spotted a Rose-breasted Grosbeak, an American Redstart, and a “Catbird”. There are probably a few others I’m forgetting to list.

I love all the great pictures I have seen in this forum. Thanks for sharing.

I've always wanted to see a warbler, but never have.

So far this spring I've seen...

Sparrows
Starlings
Grackles
Mourning Doves
Juncos
Chickadees
Robins
Cardinals
Goldfinches
House Finches
Blue Jays
Downy Woodpecker
Red-bellied Woodpecker
White-breasted Nuthatch
Brown Creeper
Brown Thrasher
Cooper's Hawk
Red-winged Blackbird

I used to see a rose-breasted grosbeak each spring, but he stopped passing through a few years ago. I always get a pair of catbirds, but they haven't shown up, yet... same with the wrens.

Here in Oregon we get a Townsend's warbler on the suet which is even more yellow than yours. I think he's gone for the summer now though. They seem to be winter birds.

We're seeing chickadees, nuthatches, finches, goldfinches, hummingbirds, sparrows, robins, mourning doves, blue jays and Stellars jays, spotted towhees, and downy woodpeckers. We have seen grosbeaks but nothing so far. Of course we don't get cardinals. We're the only house on the street with a bird feeder out and with tall firs across the street, we get a pretty good crowd.

We have been seeing lots of different kinds of birds here lately. I was lucky to get a picture of a Tufted Titmouse. They are shy and fly away quickly, so its hard to get a pic. Some of the Goldfinches have put on their summer golden feathers. And I saw that the woodpecker is back. Got a pic of him today. Not a good one, but there he is. I can always hear him before I see him. Its nice to have him back this year.

So far we've seen these in much abundance: chickadees, nuthatches, finches, goldfinches, our two hummingbirds, mourning doves, blue jays, downy woodpeckers, red-bellied woodpeckers, titmice, cardinals, juncos, thrushes, hawks, buzzards, and of course the Carolina wrens.

I wish I knew the names of the birds that visit my birdbath. I have a few hummers that visit the flowers, a couple of other types of birds that frequent the birdbath and a loud blue jay (or blue bird?) that hangs around. Monday night at dusk we saw two hawks stop by and sit on our fence for a few moments! That was a first.

The blue jay is the loud mouth, not the blue bird.

These are the latest visitors to the feeders – White Throated Sparrows. I think the yellow stands out more than the white. They are fun to watch; they are the second wave of “cleaners” under the feeders. I missed getting a picture of an Oriole eating suet, hopefully later.

What a great pic! It looks like a fuzzy baby penquin.

Today two black-headed grosbeaks came for a visit. They're our most colorful spring bird. The hummers are going to my lilac and bleeding hearts looking for something different. Forget that sugar water! The goldfinches haven't been back even though we put out nyjer seed.
