I live in South Texas and my container garden is growing on the west side of my house. The small area where the plants grow gets the hot afternoon sun, however there just isn't enough of it. I'm maxing out to about three and a half hours per day of direct sun because trees start blocking the mid afternoon sun. Surprisingly my plants seem to be doing pretty good. I read some where tomatoes grow better when mulched with red plastic because of the reflected spectrum of light. With that in mind, I'm wondering if I could attach two aluminized malar survival blankets to my house and use redirected sun light to increase my growing day? Your ideas & thoughts will be greatly appreciated. John |

I have never seen anything like that discussed in the forum. Sounds like a totally new topic here. Please let us know the outcome if you decide to give it a try. All I can say is that it sounds like a plausible idea to me.

I've read about the red causing much better production, too. It wouldn't hurt to give it a try. |

Thanks for your input. I was just out side and noticed the East sun's reflection off of one of my front windows. My concern about this scheme is reflected heat but that may not be a concern. Thanks Again, John |
