Saw this beauty one day last week. Had to take about 15 pictures to get these two good ones. It is a Monarch and it was on my Stokesia (stokes aster).

Have also seen the Black and Yellow Swallowtail, plus the yellow and white sulphers and several of the smaller butters. Do so love them. Linda B from SC

Don't you just love digital cameras? Back in the old days, we wouldn't dream of taking 15 pics just to get just one. Take all you want and delete the rest. Amazing!

here is a painted lady on my chives...so pretty...

we are also getting some caterpillars in the mail from california within the next couple of weeks...it is from one of those butterfly kits...well anyways it is the painted lady...i will have to take pics and watch them grow...

I love taking pictures of butterflies. I definitely agree about the digital cameras. I just snap like crazy until I get it right. The Birds and Blooms magazine is the best resource of learning about butterflies and their identifications.

Yardgranny, that monarch is really beautiful. I love their coloring.
