My FIL has a little tiny plant inside that has what appears to look like tiny 1" red peppers. I have looked into ornamental peppers and Christmas peppers but they say the peppers stand upright and these peppers hang down. It almost looks like a bonsai shape to the plant (tree like). It is looking awfully shabby now and I'm wanting to save it if at all possible. Does anyone have any idea what it may be? |

Without a picture, that might be tough to do. |

My first thought, from your description SpringChicken, was Bird's Eye chilli. When I looked it up, it was stated that the chillies on this plant point down & that is how I remember the plant I had years ago. Also known as Thai pepper or chili padi, it grows in Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Phillippines & Singapore as well as parts of India. Bird's Eye Chilli is the very hottest of these chillies & I don't think they are large plants (not sure about that though). The chillies turn directly red from green. Is this pic like your FIL's plant?? Attachments: ![]() |

Forgot to mention that that pic would be close to actual size & ones grown in pots tend to be smaller than those grown in the ground (of course). |
