The last several years I have had beautiful blackeyed susans in my garden that I started from seed. So far this year none have shown up. Does anybody know, will they or is this a plant that only comes back for a few years?
Thanks for any help.

Some looked like the pics you posted and some were red toward the center with yellow on the outside edges. I wonder what happened to mine. We did not have a very cold winter.

Mine seem to come up all by themselves every year, so I don't know what is wrong with yours, maybe somebody will come along with a answer for you. In a couple of places I do seen to have less, maybe due to being over crowded with other plants, but this is just a guess.

I have BESusans all over my NoVA yard. i started with nursury plants though and 3 seasons later they have come up stronger each year. i am having to give some away to keep them from spreading. i have irrigation though.

right now they are leafing about 2" tall.

I was just reading on black-eyed susans the other day and was surprised to see they are a "short-lived" plant. I also grew blanket flowers and they only lasted a couple of seasons. They too are a type of daisy. Luckily, black-eyed susans are easy to grow from seeds. Hope this helps!!
