As I live in zone 8 I am not familiar with how the different shrubs/tress grow in your area. I think you could take this picture to a local garden center that offers trees for sale and ask them what would be a good plant.

Looks like part of that area below the fence is flat? It would be a good place for some hedge plants/trees.

Good luck in your search. Linda B from SC

You could plant nadina shrubs (Heavenly Bamboo) along the fence. They grow to 6' to 8' tall and have red berries in the fall. Mine stay green all year with a touch of red in the winter. They thrive in sun or shade and do good in moist or dry conditions once established they are very tough.

I didn't think of that. I have a gazillion of them coming up everywhere. My berries are still hanging on. I want to trim some of the bushes but I can't cut them while they are still so pretty.

Another option digging room for Honeysuckle, Cematis are ususally 2x size next year for 4.99 or so 4 gallon pots. Check on light, room to grow, trellis for support (assuming that is the fence in the pic), too. also - make sure it's not a "fast growing" plant that is invasive if you have other plans for the area......
PS - Is there a spell check on this thing? I'm still learning.

My spellchecker is on the bar at the top of my screen. I think it's a Google thing. I don't see one here on the message area, but I'm new here as well.
