Anyone ever planted the Ft Laramie strawberries from Sean Conway? I found them at Target (nursery didn't have strawberry plants). They were in little boxes of 10 plants and you are supposed to soak the entire box before planting them. Has anyone bought these and successfully grown them before? I followed the instructions on the box, which was just to soak the strawberries and then take everything out of the box, soil and roots and plant it. But I also noticed that the strawberry plants were rubber banded together at the top in the box...so I took the rubber band off although it didn't say anything about that in the instructions. Did I do this correctly? Never seen these bundled plants before. Allison |

I bought something similar at Walmart (yes, the evil one). Mine were Quinalts. After separating the 10 plants in each rubber-banded "bundle", I planted them in my new, raised strawberry bed. I consulted the "Sunset Western Garden Book" and noted that the roots need to be spread in a fan shape around the main stem and covered just to the existing crown. I'm still waiting for some activity. Fritz |

I got some at walmart, (with a hanging planter) and they bombed. They were just dead. Later i asked someone to get me some from Target and i got the sean conway ones and planted them in the hanging planter. Most of them had sprouts on them, and those are doing great. Some of them had some green stems and those are now sprouting leaves, but the ones that were just root balls with dried tops, never recovered and were a waste. But i think 8/10 of the plants from the container lived. |

OK i take that back, the last 2 that seemed to be dead are starting to sprout. I give these things two thumbs up, i'm impressed. I thought those plants were goners for sure
