Can anyone identify this old Southern shrub? I added a photo, but I don't know if it will show up. Perhaps someone can help me on how to post a photo.

Your photo posted fine....but I don't know what your shrub is! It certainly isn't something that grows in VT.

Thanks for letting me know. I had a hard time with this at first. Interesting that my best friend is from Vermont. She's been down here for a few years and I have turned her into a Southern gardener. We have a great time!
I think that I'll like this place. I believe I can learn a lot here.
Maybe there are some folks that might recognize this plant. She asked me to identify it for her. She brought it from her mother's garden in Seneca, SC and it is so striking. It is blooming like crazy. I've tried every decent web site and I can't find anything like it.
I'll keep my eye out for replies.

Thanks for that beautiful picture. All I have is that piece you see in the pic that I posted.
Now, how do I propagate that piece??
I called the local nursery here and they don't have it. Most of our nurseries have closed up shop due to Walmart, K-mart, and Home Depot carrying plants.
I have the piece in water right now. Will it root?

Flowering Almond is a beautiful shrub. My mother in law had lots of it. I just dug into it and got a couple of pieces and planted it directly into the ground. They did fine. The last couple of years though they have started to look puny. I may need to move them.
